I ran into some snags on this project this month, so all I have is a quick update to let everyone know where I’m at!
Last month I talked about changing up the work I’ll be doing on this blanket for the next little while by only doing the squares I actually need to be able to complete whole rows. For August that meant doing squares for the 7th, 8th, and 23rd. All good, low pressure, right? Well…
Turns out that after I got back from house/dog sitting for my folks for the first half of the month, my case of crochet hooks was nowhere to be found! I didn’t take the case with me while I was at their place (didn’t need it), and nothing else at home is missing, so it’s just…gone. (As of this writing, it’s still missing. My Heinzelmännchen must have it.) This is obviously a problem! My home is small so there are only so many places the case can be, but for the moment? Poof. Invisible.
My 7mm hook did eventually turn up (in an unlikely spot!) so I was able to get my August squares finished. I haven’t done the rows they go into though. Mom was in an accident after they got back from their trip (she’s on the mend now!), the forest fire smoke was brutal, and my day job has been its usual fun and wholesome experience… I have a lot on my plate right now (which I’ll talk about in another post) so for this month I’m just happy I got the squares done. Likewise, because of her trip and then the accident, Mom doesn’t have an update for August either (totally understandable). Our goal is to get caught up and have a better month for September, so please keep an eye out for that!
Something worth noting for August: See those daily highs on August 9th and 10th? YIKES! We bumped above 32°C (89.6°F) which triggered pink for the first time. Thankfully it was only that hot for those two days and since then (with a few exceptions) the temperature is trending downward.
August 28th? The overnight low was zero. Winter is coming.
