Description
VIOLA
This rich colorway shifts from hues of a reddish-purple through violet and on to a few tones of blue, just like a pansy. It’s is dyed on Iron Dragon’s versatile 4-ply fingering weight Journey base:
● 75% fine superwash merino, 25% nylon
● 462 yards (422 meters)
● 100 gram (3.5 ounce) hank
Items that experience a lot of wear and tear will benefit from this 4-ply yarn. More plies mean longevity: less pilling, less strand breakage, and less thinning. Plus, those plies mean you’ll see excellent stitch definition!
Journey is perfect for socks! Finespun wool adds extra softness while the nylon content brings even more strength and resiliency to the yarn to make your handmade socks last. Nylon yarn is not just for socks though! It’s also perfect for scarves, gloves, shawls, ponchos, tops, and even beanies, cardigans, and tank tops.
Although superwash yarn can be machine washed and tumble dried on low, for best results wash items by hand and lay flat to dry.
Iron Dragon yarn is hand-dyed and rinsed in a clean, pet-free, and smoke-free environment in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada.

INSPIRATION PHOTO
Pansies are a popular garden flower owing to their wide variety of colors. They are often referred to scientifically as Viola tricolor var. hortensis. Viola is also a common shortname. “Pansy” is derived from the French word pensée, “thought”, and was imported into Late Middle English as a name of Viola in the mid-15th century, as the flower was regarded as a symbol of remembrance. This photo was taken in the garden.
SHARING
Please share your work by tagging me (@akaIronDragon on Instagram or Twitter) so I can see your projects! You could be featured in my feed!
Iron Dragon is also on Ravelry.
Every effort is made to depict skein color accurately but actual shades may vary due to differences in monitor settings.
Each skein is also unique: no two will be exactly the same, even when dyed together. For best results, alternate skeins every other round or row.
Don’t forget to order enough yarn for your project!
